Seacoast Mall Show

Seacoast Artists Guild's Awards reception for the 8th Annual Fall Show were held on Tuesday night October 25th, 2011 at the Center Court of the Inlet Square Mall. Many of our members and their guests were in attendance and enjoyed the great food and music as well as the wonderful artwork which makes up this years Fall show. Our president Tom Britton welcomed the crowd and presided over the presentation of awards. 73 of our members entered a total of 145 pieces in the show. There were many rave reviews from the guests. Be sure to see the show if you haven't yet, it's open through the 5th of November.

One of the highlights of the evening was a framed certificate presented to Linda Ketron in which she was made an honorary lifetime member of Seacoast.   Linda's dedication and support of the Arts in our community is greatly appreciated by Seacoast.

 

We wish to thank First Federal Bank and Lynn Small for their support throughout the year and making possible,  by the bank's donation,  Best-In-Show award, $500.00.

 

Also a big thank you to Jeff Rodier of  the Art and Frame Outlet.  Jeff donated three Honorable Mention certificates and provided us with the 3-D 1st place award.

 

And last but not least, we acknowledge Edna Fenske, Coordinator, and Dottie Covington, Co-coordinator, who made the show run smoothly and donated sooooo much time and effort.

The breakfast and awards ceremony was great fun!!!  Congratulations to all 15  "Beginners" who participated.  Thirty pieces were presented before our judge, Dixie Dugan, and the following awards were presented:

  • Mary D, our Vice President, and Hanging Coordinator --  her wonderful assistants; Kathi Bixler, Tom Britton and Bill Houghtling, assisted by Joe Dezzutti and Laverne Davis (who also did a beautiful job on floral arrangements).
  • Edna Fenske, Publicity Coordinator (pre and post event) and Program Creator along with hubby Duane, bartender, and part time Sherpa.
  • Anne Malarich, for creating the posters.
  • Anne Dickson, Food Coordinator, who set a beautiful table and oversaw the food presentation.
  • ALL THE MEMBERS who brought the delicious food -it was SUPER, you all outdid yourselves -  THANK YOU!!
  • Walter, our Treasurer, who always keeps us financially sound & safe from the tax man.
  • Marcelle Cushman who did intake at the show  --  she worked with Edna on the registration of artists.
  • Board member Mike Covington took photos at the event and put them on the website, Click here for the photos -- he's very quick!!!
  • And, of course, ALL THE ARTISTS who are participating in this event, without whom we would not have a Fall Show!!
  • The Gallery will be open for two weeks.  If you were not able to attend the reception stop down to the Litchfield Exchange and stroll through the Gallery.   The Judge, Ann Lee Merrill, from Mt. Pleasant was very impressed with the whole show.

The week of June 1-5, Seacoast Artists Guild sponsored a Novice/Beginner Art Show & Sale at Applewood House of Pancakes Gallery in Litchfield.  The show began with a breakfast buffet and awards ceremony on Monday, June 1.  The entrants were supported by their families and friends as awards were announced and presented.

 

"Best in Show" went to Susan Fitzgerald for her photograph titled "46th Street", which was taken during the Spring 2009 fires in Myrtle Beach.  Here are some pictures below from the show.
